For over a decade, I have owned and operated Thank Kevin Handyman Services, Inc. which
services all of Southeast Hampton Roads. I have been a handyman for my whole life. I am from a
whole family of handy men and handy women; which means we never hired anyone to fix whatever
needed fixing. We did it ourselves.
Growing up, we painted the house and painted the boat. We created wood projects, sanded and
painted them to make our Christmas gifts. We tinkered, toyed and repaired whatever needed attention.
We built decks. We repaired drywall. We fixed the roof. We peeled up a twenty five year old vinyl
kitchen floor and laid down tile. In a house where five kids called home, there was always something
to be fixed. Handyman simply defined being a Synowiec. This was my "meant to be" profession.
Mom and Dad never hired anyone to fix anything in our house, until they hired the roofing company I
was with to replace their roof. That was 29 years ago. I was the one they hired once again to replace
their roof in November 2012.
The Navy brought my wife and me to Virginia Beach in the mid 90s. The Chesapeake Bay kept
us here. We enjoy fishing and singing, but rarely in the same place. Raising two children, who are now in high school, our family stays busy.
I started my handyman business while sitting in my kitchen. This is the same kitchen that I later
remodeled only a few short years later. We built the cabinets from scratch. We installed a radiant
heated floor and new windows. We moved walls and electrical outlets, and installed a natural stone tile
back splash and a great counter top. It was then I realized I am in the perfect profession.
